ODOT’s Weezer Concert Worries
PORTLAND, Ore. — ODOT’s I-5 southbound closures start Friday night. There’s a plan to keep the shutdowns from becoming a trouble maker for an expected 15 to 20 thousand Weezer concert- goers.
The popular band has a song about a “Troublemaker.” Weezer fans will stay out of traffic trouble if this closure plan works out. While ODOT’s shutdown of all southbound lanes through the Rose Quarter officially starts at 10 P.M., they’ve carved out an exception for the Moda center. ODOT Project delivery manager David Kim explains: “”We’re going to keep one lane of I-5 southbound open as an exit-only lane for concertgoers.”
Once concert goers clear that single open ramp, crews will lock it down and the complete 24/7 shutdown of the 2-mile southbound stretch will take effect for the next five weeks.
